to get to .minecraft type in start %appdata%.-roaming-.minecraft but to install mod you need minecraft forge for your verison. then download mod of the web/internet  [browers of chose] put the mod in .minecraft/mods. Open  minecraft launcher select profile forge and have fun!!!!!
